Dress Code

Uniforms

Research studies have shown that students in uniform achieve at a significantly higher scholastic level than those without uniforms, and  discipline problems drop dramatically. Uniforms are mandatory at Midway Elementary School of the Arts. Students are required to wear uniform dress Monday through Thursday. On Fridays students may wear their uniform top and jeans, a Midway spirit shirt and jeans, or their complete uniform. 

Boys

White, black, green (any shade), orange (any shade), or blue (any shade) collared "polo style" shirts

Blue, black, or khaki/ tan long pants or shorts

Jeans only on Fridays

Girls

White, black, green (any shade), orange (any shade), or blue (any shade) collared "polo style" shirts or "polo style" dresses

Blue, black, or khaki/ tan long pants, shorts, skirts, rompers, or skorts

Jeans only on Fridays

Specifications

All upper garments must have a collar and sleeves. Halter tops, tube tops, backless dresses/ tops, spaghetti straps, and tank tops are prohibited.

Baggy or sagging pants are banned. Undergarments and buttocks MUST remain entirely covered, even while seated. Dresses, skirts, and shorts must be at least mid-thigh or below in length.

Students must wear athletic shoes in all PE classes and/ or outdoor activities.

No hats, caps, visors, hoods, sunglasses, or other head gear may be worn on campus, except with administrative permission.

Winter Uniforms

Midway will maintain its uniform style of dress policy even in cold weather.  Long sleeve shirts, sweaters, and sweatshirts in blue, green, black or orange are allowed.  Please make sure that a collared shirt is worn underneath.
